simple and fast pizza recipe
This is a simple and fast pizza recipe. I prepare this one at least one time a week and my kids and family really enjoy it and there is never pizza left over, I guarantee.
With the extra dough left over, I am able to prepare 2 to 4 small individual pizzas and then freeze it. Ideal for quick lunches or late night snack.
Here it goes:
3 cup of flour
1 table spoon of sea salt
1 table spoon of olive oil
1 tea spoon of sugar
2 tea spoon of yeast
1 cup of warm water
1/4 cup of cold milk
I suggest to use one of those "Cusinart" type pizza/pasta makers. I have the professional model and I have been using it non stop since it was given to me as a Christmas present several years ago. If you have to "knit" the dough by hand, i is ok, it will take longer and it will be a bit messier.
First get a warm cup of water, dissolve 1 tea spoon of sugar and 2 tea spoon of yeast. Mix it with a fork and then let it sit for at least 15 minutes. The yeast with the sugar will create a reaction where the yeast will create a "foam type" of combination. Meanwhile pour the 3 cups of flour, the table spoon of sea salt, the table spoon of olive oil and the 1/4 cup of milk. Start to mix everything, using the slow speed. Add the water mixed with the yeast and the sugar and continue to mix everything together for a good 15 minutes. With a spatula, move the flour stuck around the mixing bowl. Feel the dough with your fingers, when it sticks to your fingers without leaving any dough stuck on your fingertips, the dough is ready to be taken out.
Cut the dough into 4 smaller balls. you will be using each one of the dough balls for individual pizzas. If you need pizza for at least 4 to 5 people, just cut the original dough into 2.
Sprinkle some flour in a bowl and let he dough sit for about 1+1/2 hour. From the original dough it should become double in size.
You can use one of dough for immediate pizza and he second one for a pizza that you may want to freeze and serve at a later time**
Starting from the pizza you need to serve the same night you make the dough, sprinkle the dough with a bit of flour and the flat the dough out. Make a disk and place in on the pizza dish.top it with your favorite topping. Let it bake at 375 degrees for about 17/20 minutes in the middle rack of your oven.
Sprinkle a little olive oil towards the edges of the crust and serve the pizza immediately. Enjoy and buon appetito.
** If you want to freeze the pizza remember this:
Prepare the pizza dough with your favorite toppings, like tomato sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, etc, etc. When it comes to the grated cheeses, mozzarella or other cheeses, just add a little bit and let it cook with the dough. After the pizza if gently brown and the toppings are gently cooked, like the mozzarella is melted, take the pizza out of the oven, let it cool off. When the pizza is cold add more mozzarella or parmesan cheese. Then in a zip lock bag freeze the pizza, individually. Do not cook the pizza more than 11 to 12 minutes or when you will cook it the second time it may burn at the bottom.
